About

FuneralCosts.co is an independent research project that collects and analyzes published General Price Lists — the itemized price sheets the FTC requires every U.S. funeral home to provide — from funeral homes across the country. We are not a funeral home, cemetery, or insurance company, and no funeral provider pays for placement. Every price we publish links to its source and shows when it was collected. The full method is on our methodology page.

Who writes this

Everything on this site is published under the byline FuneralCosts.co Research Team. We deliberately don’t use a personal author persona, a pen name, or invented credentials. Readers of a funeral cost site are often grieving, and we’d rather that trust rest on something verifiable — the dataset itself, and a methodology page that explains exactly how it was built — than on a biography no one can check. If we ever bring on a named, licensed funeral director as a paid reviewer for a guide, that person will be credited by their real name and license, not folded into the Research Team byline.

How we make money, and how that’s kept separate from the data

This site may eventually carry affiliate links — for example, to final-expense insurance, estate-planning services, or casket retailers — clearly marked as such, and only where we think they genuinely help. No funeral home, cemetery, or advertiser can pay to have their prices changed, removed, or placed more favorably in our dataset or on our pages. The numbers on this site come from what a funeral home has itself published; our revenue has no bearing on them. The full detail is in our editorial policy.

What this site isn’t

We’re not a funeral home, a cemetery, a law firm, or a licensed insurance agency, and nothing here is personalized legal, medical, or financial advice. Our cost calculator and state pages are built to give you a realistic, sourced starting point for a conversation — not a quote, and not a substitute for asking a specific funeral home for its actual General Price List, which the FTC Funeral Rule entitles you to see before you agree to anything.
